A metallic epoxy floor is a durable, high-gloss, and visually stunning flooring option that incorporates metallic pigments to create a unique, marbled effect. This type of flooring is often used in showrooms, garages, basements, and commercial spaces for a high-end look.


Materials and Tools Needed:
Surface Preparation Tools: Diamond grinder, vacuum, degreaser, and patching compound
Primer: Epoxy primer suitable for concrete surfaces
Epoxy Base Coat: Industrial 100% solids epoxy (often tinted to enhance the metallic effect)
Metallic Pigments: Mixed into the epoxy to create the desired design
Topcoat: UV-resistant Urethane or polyaspartic for added durability and protection
We provide the following steps

Step 1: Surface Preparation
1. Clean the Surface – Remove all dirt, oil, grease, and previous coatings using a degreaser or chemical stripper.
2. Grind the Concrete – Use a diamond grinder or shot blaster to mechanically profile the concrete. This creates a rough surface for better epoxy adhesion.
3. Vacuum the Dust – Use a vacuum to remove all dust and debris.
4. Patch and Repair – Fill cracks, holes, or spalling areas with an epoxy patching compound and allow it to dry.

Step 2: Apply Epoxy Primer
1. Mix the Primer – Stir the two-part epoxy primer thoroughly.
2. Apply the Primer – Use a roller or squeegee to apply an even coat. This helps with adhesion and prevents air bubbles.
3. Allow to Cure – Follow the manufacturer’s recommended curing time (typically 6-24 hours).

Step 3: Apply the Base Coat
1. Mix the Epoxy – Combine the resin and hardener according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
2. Tint the Base Coat – Add a solid color pigment (black, gray, or white) to serve as the backdrop for the metallic effect.
3. Spread the Epoxy – Use a notched squeegee to spread the epoxy evenly across the surface.
4. Roll the Epoxy – Use a roller to level the base coat and eliminate roller marks if needed.
5. Let it Cure – Allow 8-24 hours for the base coat to set.

Step 4: Apply the Metallic Coat
1. Mix Metallic Pigments – Add metallic pigment powders to the epoxy resin and mix thoroughly.
2. Pour the Epoxy – Pour the mixed metallic epoxy in ribbons or random patterns onto the floor.
3. Manipulate the Design – Use a squeegee, roller, or even a leaf blower to move the pigments and create a marbled or lava flow effect.
4. Feather the Edges – Blend out any hard lines for a more organic look.
5. Let it Cure – Allow at least 12-24 hours for proper curing.

Step 5: Apply the Protective Topcoat
1. Choose Your Topcoat – Use either a high-gloss, satin, or matte polyurethane or polyaspartic sealer.
2. Mix and Apply – Roll out the topcoat evenly to protect against scratches, chemicals, and UV damage.
3. Let it Cure – The floor will be dry to the touch in 12-24 hours but may take up to 7 days to fully cure.

Ventilation is Crucial: Epoxy emits strong fumes, so ensure proper airflow during installation.
Avoid Foot Traffic: Stay off the floor until it’s fully cured.
Long-Term Care: Regularly sweep and mop with a mild cleaner to maintain the finish.
